Branson, MO made national news when Southwest Airlines landed at the wrong airport! In a dangerous mistake, the 737-700 landed at the Hollister airport with just a 3738 ft runway, right outside the door at Chopper Charter. Stopping less than 1,000 ft from the end of the runway, the pilots and passengers were confused when they didn’t see the gate, and quickly realized the mistake.
Southwest Airlines shuttled customers back to the Branson Airport and crews began to prepare for how they would get the giant airplane out of this small community air strip. Concerned about weight, runway length, and strength of the ground, special pilots and inspectors were brought in to make the exit.
Chopper Charter crew documented the events with multiple camera views.
